Therefore, a maintenance program should be tailor made to meet each lifts specific requirements. It is also important to note that lifts must undergo a thorough examination by a competent person, as required by the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER). The LOLER regulations 1998 require a thorough examination “in the case of lifting equipment for lifting persons or an accessory for lifting” at least every 6 months by a competent person.
